November Kids First Winner

Hahn Intermediate special education paraprofessional Mrs. Melissa Allen has been named as the November recipient of the Kids First award. Each month, administrators nominate a DCS employee or contracted staff member who best exemplifies what it means to be “Kids First.” Winners receive a $100 Visa gift card thanks to Mark Owen, owner of MEEMIC insurance, and a certificate. The winner is chosen at random.

Community Spirit November recipient

 Katie Strickert, a student teacher at Central Elementary is the November recipient of the Cardinal Spirit Award. The award is presented monthly to a community member who is passionate and loyal in their support and service to the students and staff at Davison Community Schools. 

Top Reader

Elijah was one of two Davison students named as top readers in their respective grade categories in the Genesee Intermediate School District's summer Read to a Million challenge. Elijah, a fourth grader at Central Elementary, logged 5,987 pages in the countywide reading challenge held June 1 through August 31

Another Top Reader

Evelyn was one of two Davison students recently named as a top reader in their respective grade categories in the Genesee Intermediate School District's summer Read to a Million challenge. Evelyn read 7,630 pages in the countywide reading challenge held June 1 through August 31. A total of 58,810 pages were read and logged by Davison students.

Davison Middle School is home to the district's seventh and eighth graders.  Students are encouraged to strive for all As by focusing on three school goals: Attendance, Achievement and Attitude.

All students are enrolled in math, social studies, language arts and science and there are honors/advanced classes offered in each of these core subjects.   In addition, eighth graders are required to take a semester of Health.  Elective classes for students include Physical Education, Band, Orchestra, Vocal Music, Art, Drawing, Word Processing, Technology Literacy Lab, Teen Survival, Intro to Theater/Performance, Leadership, French, and Spanish.  Intervention classes are offered to help struggling students in the areas of reading, math and organization/study skills. 

There are many after school opportunities for students at DMS between a comprehensive athletic program and many clubs.
